Camp Scholarship Information

We rely on generous contributions to provide scholarships for campers. Scholarships become available as contributions are made. Please check back frequently as new scholarships become available. NOW ACCEPTING KENT BUTLER SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATIONS

The Barton Springs/Edwards Aquifer Conservation District is seeking student applicants for six scholarships to attend Edwards Aquifer Research and Data Center’s five-day overnight Aquatic Science Adventure Camp at Texas State University in San Marcos. These scholarships are worth $1000 - the cost of attending one of these multi-day overnight camps.
These funds are part of the District’s annual Kent Butler Scholarship Program. Deadline to submit your application is Friday, March 22, 2024. Winners will be announced by Friday, March 29. You can learn more about the camps here: www.eardc.txst.edu/camp/session-schedule.
Scholarships are open to students ages 9 through 14 who reside in one of the school districts which overlap the Aquifer District boundary including:
•Austin
•Del Valle
•Eanes
•Hays
•Lockhart
•San Marcos
•Wimberley
Interested students must submit the following to be considered:
1. Completed application
2. One-page essay entitled "Why I want to attend the Aquatic Science Adventure Camp”
Bonus points: Submit a one-page artwork that captures "Science and Outdoor Adventure" (ex. scuba diving, caving, fishing, field research, etc.) Artwork should be done on a separate page from the essay. (This is optional and not required for submission to be considered!)

Essay Submission (Required)
Please submit a one-page essay entitled “Why I want to attend the Aquatic Sciences Adventure Camp”. Essays should include what the student hopes to learn and do at camp. This can be handwritten or typed.

Art Submission (Optional)
Include a one-page artwork entry that captures “Science and Outdoor Adventure”. As an example, your artwork could include a colorful drawing of river rafting, scuba diving, exploring a cave, fishing, or anything related to science and outdoor adventure. Artwork should be done on a page of paper separate from the essay.

Submitting Application Materials
Applications can be submitted via email to shlavaty@bseacd.org with “Camp Scholarship Application” in the subject line. You can also submit it via mail or drop it by the District’s office. Please staple your essay/optional artwork to this application and mail or drop off documents to:

Applications must be received by 5pm on Friday, March 22. Scholarship winners will be chosen by a District committee. Only completed applications with completed forms/essays will be eligible for the scholarship contest.

ASAC: Explorer Camp Scholarship Application - Funds donated by San Marcos Lions Club

Scholarships available to use towards ASAC: Explorer Camps. Applicants must live in San Marcos, zip codes: 78656, 78666, or 78667. Applications are accepted and distributed on a rolling basis. Applicants will be contacted within one month of submission.
To apply, applicants need to submit a completed form and draw a picture or write an essay (1 page) that shows why they want to come to camp. The application materials can be emailed to EARDC_education@txstate.edu or mailed to:
